Probe 7 History
Probe 7 started in 1992 as a solo electronic music project of Brent Heinze who played keyboards and bass for the scifi-necro-punk band Gehennan Scientist and has been a long-time member of the electronic-progressive-experimental band Christus & the Cosmonaughts with Scot Solida. He grew up playing classical and jazz piano until the purchase of his first synthesizer, sequencer, and drum machine that changed his musical path.
In 2015, Seth Moons (given name Jacob Warner) joined the project as the lead vocalist with his strong music production background. During 2015 – 2016, Probe 7 featured collaborations with other musicians for studio recordings, live performances, and remixes. For the album “Over & Out,” Adrienne Osborne of Adrienne O, Christopher Grano of Zahatar, and Christian Dee were featured on the primary album with additional musical contributions from Scot Solida, Justin Schmig (Kill Syndicate), Erin Beeler (DJ Robot 5000), Todd Jones, Daryl Boyd, Spencer Everroad and Tonja Yelton. Remixes for the songs “Go Away,” “Stages,” and “Behind the Grey Door” included the talents of Heather Sowards-Valey of Fiction 8 / Fluorescent Echo, GSTV, Ricky Terry of Ejector, Mike Smith of Fiction 8, Joe Virus of Solemn Assembly, Tim Bessler of Plasmacrash, Nathan Harmes of Sunshine for the Masses / Dr. Death & Mr. Vile, Scot Solida, Scott Dann, Joel Walker of Offerings To Odin, Daniel Culp of Aethernaut, Mark Sousa & Patrick Hogan of Voicecoil, and Breye 7x Kaiser of Provision / My Beloved Machine with a video produced for the track “Go Away” by Daryl Boyd and Guinevere Stevenson.
Although the single for “Go Away” was released, the split single of “Stages / Behind the Grey Door” was unfortunately put on indefinite hold after the exiting of Seth Moons from the project. In 2016, Erykah Synns (given name Erica Michelle) joined the band as the lead vocalist with Daryl Boyd providing live percussion. After a handful of shows, it was decided that the band needed time write some new material and consider the future of the project. The last show in this configuration was completed June 2017.
After a one-year hiatus, Probe 7 re-launched at the end of 2018 for one album with vocalist Charlie Harding joining Brent Heinze on synths. Charlie is best known for his adult film career. A new full-length album titled “Strange Angels” was released in 2019 accompanied by a remix single of the first single “No Words” and a video of the single directed by Billy Clift. Remixes were provided by Jack Chang, Martin Fry & Chris Knights, Matt Fanale of Caustic / Klack / Beauty Queen Autopsy / Daddybear, Heather Sowards-Valey of Fiction 8 / Fluorescent Echo, Shane Hall of Blakk Glass / The Breakups, and Daniel Culp of Aethernaut.
Two new vocalists were welcomed to record updated versions of two tracks for a split single. “Strange Angels” features David Boyd and “Drowning” features Adrienne Osborn with remixes by Testone & Matt Consola of Swishcraft, Michael Smith of Fiction 8, Nina Flowers, Peter Barona & Rafael Mesa, DJ GSTV of Kick and Go, and Daniel Culp of Aethernaut. Exclusive cover versions of these songs were produced by Shane Allen-Hall & Severina Sol of The Break Up, and Jay Tye of Soil & Eclipse / The AXIOM Divide.
Written during the COVID-19 epidemic beginning in 2020, the Probe 7 album of covers entitled Parallel Universe features the vocal talents of Groovie Mann of My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Donna Lynch of Ego Likeness, Andy Deane of The Rain Within, Ven V of Ludovico Technique, Emileigh Rohn of Chiasm, Caroline Blind of Sunshine Blind, Jay Tye of Soil & Eclipse / The AXIOM Divide, Henrik Iversen of NamNamBulu, Dawn Wood of Murder Weapons, Severina Sol, Eva X, Steve Cochran of Eloquent / Royal Visionaries, Pete Statham, Varla Jean Merman, Andy Clements, Tyler Hall, and Teddy Trade with musical support from Steve McKnight of GayC/DC / The Dobermen, Kippy Marks, Erik Gustafson of Adoration Destroyed, Christopher Ruby of Ursabomb, and Joel Dickinson.
The Nefarious Files album released digitally in 2022 includes previously unreleased remixes, demo versions, and other oddities from the Probe 7 vaults. Many of these have original versions appearing on the “Over & Out” and “Strange Angels” albums. Additional vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation have been provided by Tonja Nolan, Christian Dee, Erin Beeler, Seth Moons, Erkah Synns, Charles Davis, Carolyn Blind, Daryl Boyd, Todd Jones, and Scot Solida.
In 2021, Probe 7 welcomed Jasun Mark for live vocals and will be collaborating on new material for their follow up album to Parallel Universe. He is a Canadian/American film maker and musician best known for his work directing adult films and was the keyboardist for the Canadian electronica band PlasticPalacePeople.
Transference was released late in 2022 with Jasun Mark on lead vocals and features new tracks, live studio versions of some of the band’s classic songs, and two new covers. Their tribute to the classic Psychedelic Furs track “Pretty in Pink (Isn’t He)” tells the coming out story of a young man while songs like “Don’t Tell Me What Not To Say” encourage others to embrace themselves without fear of judgement or rejection. Band member Jasun Mark produced a video for the song “88 Lines About 44 Dudes” featuring some of the band’s favorite friends and fans. It is an homage to the classic song “88 Lines About 44 Women” by The Nails with a fabulous queer tint.
